The Dichotomy of Control

Some things are up to you.

Most things aren’t.

Your power lives in knowing the difference.

What you control:

Your actions

Your effort

Your decisions

Your response

What you don’t:

Other people

Outcomes

Timing

Luck

Events

Suffering increases when you try to control what isn’t yours.
Strength increases when you fully own what is.

This idea comes from the Stoics, especially Epictetus, who taught that freedom comes

from focusing only on what is within your control and letting the rest happen without resistance.
